Monique Wyatt, Plot 120
Welcome to our Open Day! I am a private chef by trade with a passion for all types of cuisines, but my journey to this allotment has always been driven by a mission far bigger than my plot. I am a serial entrepreneur & hold degrees in Law, skills that I’ve learned to apply to every problem I encounter.
The Passion for Food & Giving
For over 30 years, I have been actively engaged in helping children and young mothers in Uganda. It was this deep-seated belief in helping others, combined with my love of food, that led me to a pivotal moment. In 2015, I was so moved by the sight of people queuing for a Food Bank that I introduced the idea of the New Allotment making a meaningful difference. I was frustrated with short-term fixes, and I knew that our community could provide something more sustainable: fresh, healthy food.
The Allotment as a Force for Good
This is why I donate 95% of what I grow on my permaculture plot to the Chipping Barnet Food Bank. My passion is not just for growing, but for a circular ecosystem where everything is returned to the soil, and a community where our work helps those in need.
I saw the need for a professional website, and I decided to build one. I did this not for personal gain but to give a voice to our mission. This website is a tool to empower our community, raise funds for the Food Bank, and showcase the hard work of all our plot holders.
A Vision for the Future
The Open Day is a chance for me to share my passion for food and community with you. I believe that every problem has a solution, and that people should not be afraid to get their hands dirty to make a difference. This website is a testament to that philosophy.
